frank0
A hand I played a few days ago, IMP pair[hv=pc=n&e=sakq64haq5dqt4ca4&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p2cp2dp3dp3sp4cp5cp6cppp]133|200[/hv] 2♣ is artificial strong(!!), this is a made up bidding sequence under the assumption that E does not enter the auction. Are you able to stay silence all the way? If you don't think so, when and how do you enter the auction? I'll post the whole hand later. ArtK78
I have to admit that I would bid over 2♣. It is clear that opener has a distributional powerhouse. You should get into the auction. If you stay silent and allow that auction to happen, I guarantee you that declarer is 7-6 and may very well make 6♣. Whether you have a playable spot is another matter. frank0
[hv=pc=n&s=sjt872hk982dct952&w=s953hjt7643d32cj3&n=shdakj98765ckq876&e=sakq64haq5dqt4ca4&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p2cp2dp3dp3sp4cdpp5dd6cppdppp]399|300[/hv] The actual hand and the actual bidding seq, I sat E, the result was unfortunate. 6♥/♠ are both reasonable sacrifice, 6♣X= is nearly the worst(except for 6♣XX=). Zelandakh
It is ok to have the agreement that immediate action over a strong 2♣ opener shows a weaker hand than this. However, if you do you need to be able to come in on the second round. Some (admittedly very few) pairs play this style over a 2♣ opening that is always (genuinely) strong but keep immediate overcalls constructive when opponents play a style where the 2♣ opening can effectively be a strong preempt or other distributional hand without good hcp strength.
