Here is what happened at the STAC: A friend called us to relate her goof on the hand. She was all geared up to show a huge NT hand, and overcalled 2NT!! O.K., that'll happen. However, Terry explained that our opponent on the same hand took a more aggressive stance. He overcalled 2♣.
Fluffy
I have a novice student who is like this. When I overcall 2♣ he thinks I have gf hand, and when someone bids 1♠-pass-1NT-pass-2♥ he thinks its transfer. But he hasn't played for a year yet so has an excuse. How many times have we seen in the novice game someone overcall their 'better minor'. At the two level B-)
TWO4BRIDGE
This happened last night. Not sure if you would call the attempted sacrifice a "brain freeze" or just "not a good idea" :I decided on a 4H opening preempt: [hv=pc=n&s=s98753hdkqj85ct94&w=shakjt8752d94cq86&n=sj64hq9da763ckj73&e=sakqt2h643dt2ca52&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=4hpp4sppdppp]399|300[/hv] ♥A lead which South ruffed. ( Theoretically, this could be the only trick for Declarer ) Low ♠to the J, won by East. But Declarer got 2 tricks for - 8 X or - 2000 for - 14.5 IMPs
