CSGibson
From a comment in another thread. How does having Smith or Reverse Smith in your arsenal affect the leads you make? it affects my leads in two ways: One, playing smith against suit contracts means that I will always lead a count card, even from 3 small, trusting that I can give a negative smith later to deny a good holding/suggest a switch. Two, I am more likely to lead passively in NT if I feel its right, as I can discourage partner from pounding away at my crap suit/encourage a switch. gnasher
Not at all. I just try to make the lead that's objectively best. I assume that whatever signals we've agreed to play, in combination with partner's bridge skills, will enable us to solve any defensive problems that occur.
