There is absolutely no doubt that a director CAN PLAY in the event they are directing. This happens several times each and everyday. Uday could, if he wanted too, block this from occurring. So I think the poll questions might be better worded, in english, "should a TD play in his/her tourney".

I will not play in a tournement with a playing director, not that I feel like I need a director roaming the tables, but there are SO MANY OTHER tourneys I can play in, why I should I. At one time yesterday when I logged on there were 16 tourneys being run at the same time and more about to start (and some finishing).

Playing directors is just another way to increaseing the options available, no on is forced to play in them... BUT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA to include, "playing TD" in the title, and surely make this conditions well known by incuding it (in caps maybe) in the tournment description.

I think as a practical mattter, its pretty tough.

If there are a lot of director calls, there isn't enough time to play.

If the director is called to the table, and hasn't finished the hand in question, the director obtains UI - what fun!

I don't have a problem with a director subbing in.

I agree with Ben that the wording here is wrong.... CAN TD play? Meaning is he/she allowed? Or is he/she able to play and direct at the same time? Some TD's seem very capable at playing and directing.... My hat off to them! ( i wear a headscarf) :P

When I register in a tourney where TD IS playing (most do advertise it in Capital Letters) I know what to expect.... subbing is not a problem, since we can sub our partners, but adjusting might be, since it is time consuming.... I would not want to be the partner of the playing TD. Seriously, I don't know how they can concentrate on playing, and answer calls at the same time.

So far, I have run about 60 Tourneys. I have only been a playing TD once. (limitted to 10 tables) I always try to put non playing TD in the description because I feel it is a bit of a disservice to run a big Tourney and then play in it at the same time.

Perhaps another solution from a code point of view:

if tables > x then TD cannot play

if tables > y then TD cannot sub unless last round

Maybe this is a solution.

Playing TD cannot come to your table. He is fixed in his seat. :P

Just for fun, Indy, 4 boards, unclocked and adjustments after finish is ok with playing TD imho.

Every time I created such a tourney, it took only 1 minute to find enough guys, who liked this format.

There was never acomplaint at all and no Yellow had a problem with such a tourney.

I had a very bad experience in a tourney with playing TD today....

25 tables, fair enough! TD was very attentive, always asking if we needed adjusments and subs.... big problem! Tourney chat was not available, private chat to TD not available..... so how do we tell him /her we have a problem?

My partner had to write to the lobby to get TD's attention..... now if TD has lobby chat off.... back to square 1 :)

So, as all females are allowed, i changed my mind, and decided, it IS a problem if TD is playing.....

That's all folks ;)

I don't mind it for a very small field, certainly NOT with 25 tables. I tried playing in one of my first Individuals but decided never again. As you can't go to a table that has a problem, in effect with a playing TD you have NO TD, which is not a good thing. I've also had many occasions where the playing TD has disappeared, sometimes even to join ANOTHER tournament and I've had to take over the running and field the complaints. Not much fun. ;)

Basically now, I either decide to play in a tournament, or to direct one, but not at the same time :)

Hi ,

Have done several tourneys where i play with another director, cause even 4 tables i cant handle alone when im playing, mainly when u need to do an adjust, when playing togheter with a td u can devide the work, when one is dummy adjusts are done.

Basicully its manageble when A very small field B The players are informed u are playing C u make as td very clear whether or not u make adjustments

Played once in a playing td tourney where no adjust where done untill we played the director himself and his partner played slow in a difficult hand, he adjusted to A++ when time run out, mind you at that time we had 2Avg- standing for unfinisched baords, needless to say i marked that td .

When tourneys are created just to please the td and players are let in to have a tourney, my feeling is that these tds give tds in general a bad name, but again giving enough information in info can help aldougb many players out there cant read the info in description cause they simply dont speak the language written in there.

When they call for an adjust/non alert/sub needed problems start and tourney is wasted at least for some players.

besides the outcome(result) tds can do a lot to provide plaesant for all tourneys, playing tds usualy ends up in at least a couple players beeing disappointed.

:( In past Fun Fishy is TD playing tournament.

I come to conclusion that with more than about 8-10 tables I cannot do very good job to my partner, my opps, and people who are playing.

So I stop doing it in Fishy. When I want to play and no tournaments is available I make little Tee hee whee <how can any one doubt this is "just for fun" tournament?> B) but even with putting in description TD IS PLAYING and announcing to tournament "you must tell me what is problem when you make TD call" it is still little bit messy if people start booting or worse sticking/red dot.

I personally think that over 10 tables with playing td is no no.

There is a sort of consensus that a playing TD cannot manage a big event. If this is so, then it might not be a bad idea to limit the No. of tables by the software, once the TD playing option is selected.

Also have some constraints on not been able to select time of less than 7 minutes per board will help keep the No. of adjustments to the minimum, when TD is playing

Now the tourneys have been Up & running for quite a while and I am sure these feedback will help Fred & Uday to fine tune these things.

I NEVER EVER play willingly in a tourney with a playing TD. It is grossly unfair to the players that may need a ruling or doesn't know how to get a sub or is trying to report abuse.

I want Uday, for my Christmas and birthday wish, to BAN tourneys with playing TD's. Directors DIRECT, not play.

players that may need a ruling or doesn't know how to get a sub or is trying to report abuse.

What action cant a td do when he is playing?

An adjust?

Sub someone?

Adjust for slowplay?

Do you think when one or the other is abusing a playing td wont know exactly the same as when he wasnt playing?

We have no access to chat wheter or not we playing.

I think there is a large diffrence between the td that does adjust, handlle issues , communicates with players using tourneychat OR the td that writes" do you own subbing, no adjusts, report slowplay and abuse directly to abuse@, no td calls"

I never had any problems with a small playing field(max 8 tables, i run thse several times a day with an average of 2 playing tds) except for one time a fellow td messed a tourney up and was even abusing days later.

Its like with all things in life, if u dont like it , stay away or do something else.

Happy X-mas
