(I know 4s is a misbid, this was a robot reward race and I was rushing to save time).
pigpenz
another one of those weird things that GIB doesspades only promises five forcing to 3NT no reason not to give chance to get to right strain
Stephen Tu
I know spades promises only 5, but it should also deny 3 cd hearts.
barmar
Because of fast arrival, 3♥ shows either extra values (15+ total points) or at least 4-card support. 4♥ shows a minimum opening, but also denies controls or shortness in the minors. This hand falls in between: it's not good enough for 3♥, but the ♦ control precludes 4♥. So it makes the temporizing 2♠ bid. If you continue bidding out your shape by bidding 3♦, GIB will then jump to 4♥.
Stephen Tu
Weird. GIB has melded its own weird combination of picture bids, and playing 3h as "fast arrival inference" even though 4h isn't fast arrival. That's a bit bizarro. I suppose it might be playable. Non-std though.
