I'm pretty sure standard is 16-18 total points, *non-forcing*. Have to bid 4♠ if stronger, or bid 3♣ follow by 3♠.(2) with 8+ spade fit, it should never bid hearts. Rebiddable hearts also isn't enough, you want 7 hearts or 6 good ones ("strong rebiddable"???). I wish GIB used numerical descriptions rather than "biddable, rebiddable, etc." I should probably pull 4h, but the problem is I've seen GIB double way too often with longer heart suits because of its refusal to make normal free bids with 6 and 7 cd heart suits. Yes, nothing makes, but that's besides the point. Again, it's "17-20" total points for the jump rebid; I think 16-18 is more normal.2. It has to bid 4♠ here. pass/3nt/4s to play, 4h = at least good 6 heart with stiff/void spade, 4c/4d = max, spade fit, cue bid (e.g. 1nt with 3cd sp limit raise). fuburules3
With regards to total points, since GIB counts shortness (without honors) as points, any hand with a six card suit will usually be worth more total points than HCP and 17-20 total points might not be too far off "standard." Stephen Tu
My position is that 19-20 "total points" as GIB counts them is too strong. That's enough to GF, and 3S should be less than that.
Stephen Tu
Still not fixed. What I said about not bidding 5 cd suit goes quadruple with 4 cd suits! I've seen GIB's shenanigans before thus I tried spades again anyway.
