billw55
For me, no double. Partly because my diamonds aren't super great, and partly because partner's probable natural spade lead looks ok. Then again, I don't play at Cayne level.

aguahombre
Of course, we aren't at the Cayne level; but, maybe we can beat Cayne on this one. If the bidding is as it sounds, my righty was originally slamming for diamonds. Then he found out opener doesn't have even two diamonds, so he Wooded for clubs. Since we are not defending clubs, we would like to set up a cashable diamond right now. Double is only wrong if they have eleven running tricks outside the diamond suit before we get in. If they need to set up a trick, they go down.
han
Of course I know the hands so that makes it harder to have an open mind, but I think you have to double on hands like this, simply for the fact that you'll beat the slam more often by a decent amount. The IMP odds favor beating slams. On the hands where the double doesn't matter you lose more than you gain, although here you can reasonably expect to beat them a fair number of times since everything seems badly placed. As a corollary, why are you so sure that opener lacks even two diamonds? Maybe I worry too much.
aguahombre
As a corollary, why are you so sure that opener lacks even two diamonds? The guy with the diamonds bid 4SF, then rebid diamonds; that means he wants to strongly suggest diamonds as trump. The other guy said no. Conclusion would be: either he is a hand hog, or he doesn't have more than one diamond. I am guessing he doesn't have more than one diamond. han
I don't think declarer will have a doubleton diamond. It sounds like he is 4-6 in the rounded suits and with 1-4-2-6 he wouldn't bid 3NT.
JLOGIC
The answer to the title is always yes unless you think it will make partner less likely to make the right lead. edit: Now that I have looked at the hand, my answer is unsurprisingly yes.
