Here is a hand that i played recently, it was very frustrating since in the ending i should have known better, but ended up doing something stupid :(

I got the ace of spade lead, followed by the king. East followed with the 9 and 7 indicating an even number. Next west shifted to the jack of diamond. You don¨t want east on lead, so you try a small diamond from dummy. But east plays the queen and continues with the two of diamond. What is your plan now?

 

If the hearts are 2-1 even I might make 4 hearts on a good day, so you will find out that hearts are 3-0 when you play a high heart..

Ruff high (West showing out), trump to dummy (East showng out), ruff a spade to confirm that West is 6313, draw trumps. East is trump-squeezed on the penultimate trump.

RHO has A10 in diamonds and Qxxx in clubs (presumably....we are already home if he had xxxx in clubs)

 

So you play a trump and he pitches a club.

 

Whether you are in hand or in dummy at the end of this trick, you cannot both ruff out a club and get back to your hand.

 

Unblocking the clubs earlier changes the layout but not the result

I think we can arrange an entry-shifting squeeze like this: ruff with the jack, heart to the king, spade ruff, heart finesse, ♣AK, ♥Q. Now we're in the same position as your second diagram, except that our hearts are Qx in dummy and Ax in hand.
