First time I ever opened a 4 card major and it was a really crappy one at that, but the look on my partners face when I passed 2♣, well it was online, but I bet it was priceless :) I dunno, I thought it was amusing and not entirely without merit, was a really good board but that might just be resulting. Which was always a ridiculous argument. I mean by that argument stayman could be defined a psyche controlling when you open 1N in third on a weak hand with long clubs. Whenever you psche, bad things can happen, and also good things can happen. AyunuS Posted April 20, 2012 Report Share Posted April 20, 2012 Well, it is a gamble, but 3+ spades may mean only a 4/3 trump suit if it's only 3 spades, which may or may not be worse than what you have in clubs, and so it's a risk in either case.
