I'd bid 6♣.

 

To me opening 1 and then bidding 5♣ shows a 5 ♣ opener with a side A or KQ-KJ with probably a void somewhere if only 7 card.

 

I think pd has 7-8 solid ♣ (probably 8 since he didnt care about 3 NT), void or stiff ♦, not neccesarilly but probably no 4 card major, and either ♥K or ♠A but not both.

I would bid 5D, and if partner bids 5S I would bid 5NT as a last try for the grand. Over 5H I'll just bid 6C. Raising to 6C immediately is another reasonable option, with the benefit that you might avoid a killing spade lead. However I would say the combined odds that partner has ace of spades, queen of spades, singleton spade, they don't lead one anyway, or they lead one with an honor onside and we guess right, is good enough to make trying for the grand worthwhile.

 

Another possibility is partner bids a bad grand, but I'm not too concerned about that. Ace of spades and 7 solid clubs doesn't sound like a 5C bid. Ace of spades and 8 solid clubs is obviously not a cold grand but has plenty of play. Anything more than that and we are likely to be cold or nearly so.

I could have made this negative double with a 4441 9 count, so if partner is heading to 5C alone I'm thinking he's something like 2119 with 9.5 tricks in hand or something like that. idk why with 8 solid and a side K I'm not bidding 3D over the negative double if its what partner has. 2 card clubs and K AQ A has got to be the nuts for a 5C bidder, so exploring for 7 has to be right.
