dwar0123
Wondering if my bid was crazy, it seemed fine to me but this might be one of those cases were I have internalized a really bad habit, my regular partner(my father who taught me) and I do these kinds of bids all the time. However, it caught my bbf regular partner off guard. 2/1 imps.[hv=pc=n&s=s7h96532dkqt762c5&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=p1cd1s3s]133|200[/hv]
Finch
I hate ever to say anything is 'expert standard' but I do think it is fairly universal to play all of 2S, 3S and 4S as natural on this auction. Partner promised spades when he doubled (in theory) and the only easy way to get to your spade fit (whether RHO has 0,1,2,3 or 4) is to bid them now. If you want to cue bid, bid clubs, which is the suit partner has suggested shortness in. There's probably some clever understanding you could have about the difference between 3C and 4C, but I'd bid one of them. (We have a special agreement about 3C - that it shows a game forcing heart hand - but that isn't standard at all.)
gszes
IMO the following system works well overall 1m x 1M x ability to compete in the unbid suits <xx KQxx KQxx xxx>2 of rho suit game forcing cue bid2 of lho suit michaels but stronger than 4 of lho suit3/4 of rho suit natural AQJTxx(xx)3 of lho suit 6/7 card suit missing 1 honor hoping p can bid 3n with missing honor NF.4 of lho suit very distributional but weakish hand at least 55 all other bids natural. 1m x 2M x ability to compete in the unbid suits3 of rho suit michaels3 of lho suit same as above4 of lho suit same as above4 of rho suit minors all other bids natural 1m x 3M x 4 of the other major and 5+ of the unbid minor4 of lho suit same as above4 of rho suit minors all other bids natural this system is consistent throughout but it wont makeeveryone happpy. Talk it over with your partners andmake sure you are on the same page. The hands that specifically want to x rho will have to decide btnNT and (passing ---knowing opps are in a bad spot----and hoping p can x again). Your example hand the bidding would go1c x 1s and you would bid 4c to show your weakish but highly distributional hand. This is a large topic and there are many more variations and differentways to handle them. I hope this helps.
