How do you continue? (i) Assuming it is penalties, I would have passed partner's double.(ii) I would have taken the second heart. They might be 6-2, and we know South has the jack. Now obviously I run the diamonds, but I guess you are asking whether I take my 9 certain tricks or discard all the spades and take the club finesse for 10. The short answer is that I would cash a few diamonds first, but the long answer is that I would make my contract. There's always the chance that something absurd has happened somewhere, and going off in 3NT will be a poor result, I know that for certain.
