GIB takeout doubles

When GIB insisted on a 6-1 fit after I had made a takeout double and later bid my own solid suit several times, I looked more carefully at her understanding of my double. Apparently I had promised 3+ cards in all unbid suits even after I bid my own suit. I like this idea. Has anyone read a system of how to make it playable (how to handle a big one suited hand too strong to overcall in standard methods)?

Many years ago, the direct cue bid (e.g. 1S- 2S) was used to show a seriously strong hand, a 2NT overcall was strong and balanced, and take-out doubles were proper take-out doubles. This works perfectly well by itself, but then most players found that they got dealt a very strong hand very rarely and that the cue-bid and 2NT overcall came up much more often if they used them for 2-suiters. You can always go back to those methods if you like.

I can imagine it is a bit complicated to program that a double shows "ostensibly" all unbid suits. Besides, the definition "either strong or all unbid suits" is not quite accurate either because with shortness in an unbid suit you should try to find an alternative, like a jump cue, leaping to game, a heavy and/or offshape 1NT overcall, or a slightly offshape U2NT or Michaels.
