Fluffy
Yesterday I had 2 similar hands playing in the local club: AJ109753-2QJ963 1♥-1♠3♣-?? AQJ984QJ64-1063 1♥-1♠3♦
Cyberyeti
First hand, is the jump shift GF for you ? If so, just bid 4♣ as although 5♥ is exclusion, it doesn't give you space to untangle the spade holding opposite. Second hand, don't have this problem, can bid 2♠ first time. Say 1♥-2♠(single suited and huge, or GF, 5 good ♠, 4 decent ♥)-3♦-5♦(agreeing ♥, exclusion), if partner has x, AKxxx, AKQJx, xx, tough). 5N to find K♠ if all keycards held as partner will bid 5♥ with 3. TWO4BRIDGE
AQJ984QJ64-1063The 2nd hand, we could use Zelandakh's splinter system: 1H - 3S! ( void splinter somewhere )3NT! ( asks ) - 4D! ( ♦ - void )
whereagles
1. A practical 4NT for me. If pard has 0-3 keys, bid a conservative 6. If he shows 1-4 instead, go for the ambitious 7. 2. In french style, this is a 3♥ wtp?
nigel_k
4♣ on the first and 3♥ on the second. There will be hard decisions later but I don't see much we can do on this round to avoid that.
ahydra
4C on the first. On the second one I'll bid 4D over 1H - support with support, etc. ahydra
Fluffy
I bid 4♣ and 3♥ the continuations should be: 1♥-1♠3♣-4♣4♦ 1♥-1♠3♦-3♥4♦ what next?
Statto
I'd rebid 3♠ on the 1st hoping to show the ♣ support later. On the follow-ups, 4♠ cue with both, though on the 2nd I'm concerned about ♣ losers so might sign off in 4♥, and definitely would if playing Italian cues. bigbenvic
4♣ on the first - could 3♣ be 3 a card suit? if yes this should show 5♣, lucky I have 5 then! 3♥ on the second. Set trumps on both and lets go exploring for slams :-)
TWO4BRIDGE
AJ109753-2QJ963 1♥-1♠3♣-?? On the 1st one :4D ... Ctrl cue showing support for Opener's 2nd suit ( ♣ ) .
Fluffy
There is a problem with 4♣ o the first one. You can never find out that partner has ♠x or ♠xx, this has 2 issues, first that you cannot know if 7♣ can be made, and second is that you cannot play 6♠ instead of 6♣ at MPs. I tried 4♣ and ended up in 6♣, partner had ♠xx ♥AQxxx ♦A ♣AK10xx, ♠KQ was stiff behind so 6♠ might or might not make Second one was just for fun, partner had ♠- ♥AKxxxx ♦AKxxx ♣Jx Opening leader has ♣AQx, and on my local 80% of the 20 table field bid and made 6♥ on a non club lead, wich is ludicrous not only because nobody found lack of club control nor led a club, but also because 13 tricks are easy if you manage dummy's entries enough. Showing controls etc and getting a club lead due to it for +450 was worth 5% of the MPs.
