Coelacanth
IMPS, 3-board matches, weak opponents [hv=pc=n&s=skq2h8743daqj6ckt&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1n(15-17)2h(Natural)d(%22Penalty%22)p]133|200[/hv] Partner's double, nominally for penalties, might just be a good (in context) balanced hand and not necessarily a huge heart stack. What call do you make? Note the conditions. Do you make a different call at matchpoints? In a longer match? With different vulnerability? Against expert opponents? Codo
I would sit and smile (not visible of course). Even if partner has a big balanced hand, I want to play 2 ♥ doubled.Against anybody, at any form of scoring, at any length of the match.

wyman
Partner made a penalty double and I have 4 trumps. And we're at favorable. I'm happy to sit for this at any scoring. It's much more of a problem r/w. But I'll still sit.
CSGibson
No questions, partner, go ahead and face the opening lead.
Phil
Looks like they stumbled into a Burn's Fit and they are doubled and vulnerable? Why would I think about rescuing them?

Why would I think about rescuing them?Phil has terminology I cannot even Google. What is a Burn's fit? If they can make 2♥ I will eat my shoe, even though I do not like my 4 small hearts. It tells me declarer might be able to pick up partner's theoretical trump honors. Still, whatever the penalty means, we have a better than normal shot at taking them at least -2, better than making a game our way.

RMB1
Phil has terminology I cannot even Google. What is a Burn's fit? You need to google "Burns law" and you will find http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/burn_law.htm Presumably, by extension, a Burn's fit is one that doesn't meet Burn's law.

Hahahahaha! I kind of figured Phil had something deliciously hilarious up his sleeve with the obscure reference.
ggwhiz
My signature seems appropriate. If you can't take a shot at them here you carry an umbrella on sunny days just in case.
whereagles
If pard has a big balanced hand, then he doesn't have any 5-card suit worth mentioning. This is gonna be a bloodbath.
