gwnn
1♣*-x-xx-1♠ (2+ clubs, 1♦ promises at least HHxx)3♣-p-6NT-end QJKT82AQJT652 opp AKT2A93KQJ974- highish heart lead (that was a close one). My RHO played the dA in the first round, thereby making my task rather easier. But what would you play if he played low?
helene_t
9. RHO has to have ♦T.
Zelandakh
Needing 5 tricks in diamonds I think a high honour is better. This wins if West has Txx (18%) or Tx (8%)and loses if West has xx (16%) or 8 (2.5%). I am always really bad at these though and did not go through the numbers with any rigour. gnasher
From the bidding, LHO has four spades and not four hearts. Most players wouldn't double 1♣ with xxx QJxx Axx Kxx, so RHO is 3442, or possibly 3451 if he likes stiff honours. That gives RHO more small diamonds than LHO, so I finesse. Zel: your analysis would be correct if all that you knew was that RHO had ♦A.
y66
RHO doubled. So I'll play him for 3442 including DA. That gives him 3 chances to hold DT vs 2 for LHO. So, play him for DT also.
Phil
The 9 looks right, especially given the mutt RHO doubled on.
gwnn
RHO did have ATxx. I hope I would have found the 9. Thanks. BTW rightie was slightly annoyed at his partner's failure to lead a club (?) but no one said anything about the dA.
Zelandakh
Have to laugh, I did not even notice the bidding. Reading comprehension -1. So LHO led a high heart with 10 hcp outstanding - what the heck did RHO double on?
xcurt
RHO did have ATxx. I hope I would have found the 9. Thanks. BTW rightie was slightly annoyed at his partner's failure to lead a club (?) but no one said anything about the dA. Or the lack of a double on 6N.
