ACBL convention card editor problem in Windows 7

Recommended Posts

Having used Lee Edwards' ACBL Convention Card Editor (version 1.0.15) at http://www.conventioncards.com/ for many years on a Windows XP (Service Pack 3) computer, I was surprised when I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Professional that when trying to print a convention card on a fairly inexpensive HP inkjet printer that all of the border lines between the different sections on the card were printed about three times thicker than they should have been, obscuring part of the text. Also, making a change to a convention card and trying to save it frequently gives me an error message.

Has anyone had and problems similar to this and solved them?

Also, what are some good other choices for ACBL convention card editors these days, particularly if you have a lot of small text on your ACBL convention card?

I use the editor on bridgewinners.com, which is free and runs through a browser. It's one of the few that works on mac (which is why I use it) but also pretty easy to get and use.

I DON'T use this so take this suggestion for what it is worth. Is your new computer 64 bit? It maybe related to that rather than the operating system. I know of a few programs that will not run on 64 bit windows (vista or 7) but will on 32 bit windows (either version).

I havent tried the Edwards CCE under Windows 7 -- but when I first got Windows 7, I had so much trouble with old programs not working that I installed a virtual machine running XP, so it'd be handy any time I ran into glitches.

As for the bridgewinners card - last I checked, I lacked the ability to put new textboxes in new places on the card / in place of preprinted text (something Lee's was better at than any of the competition.) Until it does, it really doesn't work for me.
