rduran1216
I played in a club level game today with the followin result, sitting E/W [hv=pc=n&s=saktha763dcakqj76&n=sq9642hk85dt9c854&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp2cp2sp3cppp]266|200[/hv] -190 was good for a cold zero. Are club games you've participated in this poor in terms of competition? *edited for clarity
RunemPard
Confused by the bidding...is it supposed to be NS bidding? And was this a live club or a BBO club?
Trinidad
I played in a club level game today with the followin result, sitting E/W [hv=pc=n&s=saktha763dcakqj76&n=sq9642hk85dt9c854&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp2cp2sp3cppp]266|200[/hv] -190 was good for a cold zero. Are club games you've participated in this poor in terms of competition? *edited for clarityThat depends on the whole deal. If at all other tables NS bid to 6 or 7♠ which goes down on a club - heart defensive cross ruff then I would say that the standard of this club game is pretty good (every one bidding to slam and everyone finding the killing lead). The same holds if the slam goes down on a diamond lead and a bad trump break. And if West at your table led a singleton spade, then that is the only normal way declarer can get 13 tricks in a club contract. So, if the score slip shows a pile of 170's for NS, then the standard is poor. But if it shows a pile of -50's and -100's then the standard seems to be perfectly fine. JLOGIC
Yes, club game players usually suck, whats the problem?
ggwhiz
If you want an answer better than a guess, post all 4 hands. Maybe one or both of you forgot to bid a serious number of diamonds?
aguahombre
Rik seems to have it spelled out about the quality of the field. And, we already know about the quality of N/S at this table. Yes, club games are often weak, but not always.
barmar
Did someone take the diamond cards out of the bidding box?
neilkaz
So North made a positive reponse that he didn't have and then passed below game. One gets all kinds at club games, and your really high percentage sessions need to benefit from the occasional big gift. One presumes that N/S had no agreements after 2♣ and/or that North was clueless...anyhow it is clear that North was clueless.
