I was happy to play 5Hx rather than 6Sx losing the 2 first clubs, of course this is before declarer showed up with a 75 :) and the contract was making. I have no regrets here. I think 5Hx is a normal results[/hv]
gnasher
When partner asks for keycards, he says that control of any particular suit isn't a problem, and what he wants to know about is keycards. So you should answer the question he asked. On the actual hand, 4NT seems an overbid. Slam seems unlikely, or even impossible, opposite a hand that bid only 3♠. I agree that defending 5♥x is normal, and it was unlucky that it was making.
benlessard
Well 5m by me would be natural so i dont have the luxury to cuebid. Also ive put partner with xx in H so i was expecting him to have more stuff on the side and my my QH to be useful. I also had some hope that 6D in a 4-4 fit would be a great contract if partner had 5S4D.
mcphee
I fail to see why someone bid key card with 3 fast losers. So I am not in agreement that 5H dbled is a normal spot.
