The question is how do you play it at this table? (at the other table, ew did not bid). [/hv]
Fluffy
start with spade from dummy, I need this finese anyway, then lead ♦Q from hand.
gszes
We are not making this hand if trumps break 30, soour LOP should be looking for the best way to copewith 2/1 trump splits. There is little problem if rho has 2 dia but therecan be a big problem if LHO started with Jx.We need the spade finesse but there isno hurry we can always return to dummy latervia the trump suit. There is ONE holding inthe trump suit that can scuttle our plans (if we are not careful) and that is RHOhaving the singleton dia A. If we win trick 1 and immediately lead a lowdia we defang the singleton dia A because when RHO wins the A if they return a heart they can no longer set up LHO Jx via uppercutbecause we can ruff with the Q and pull trumps with the K. After we pull trumps it is a small matter to return to dummy via the dia K to take thespade finesse and ruff the third round and cashthe top heart. JLOGIC
start with spade from dummy, I need this finese anyway, then lead ♦Q from hand. Some concern RHO has 6 hearts and stiff A of diamonds...however I think this is the best line and with 6 hearts often they show 1 suited hearts anyways. We may be denied 2 entries if LHO has AJx diamonds and we play a diamond up and they duck, win the next diamond, and return a diamond. y66
I kibbed this one. Declarer can place RHO with Kx(x) of spades, 5+ hearts and 4+ clubs. But I don't see why it makes sense to play LHO for all 3 diamonds which is what declarer needs to do to make this.
