Good or bad hand?

PD open 2N, what is ur plan? suppose u play xfer, but no further agreement.

No further agreements, huh? I guess I'll transfer, then bid 4 clubs, which I refuse to believe partner will pass. If he then bids 4 hearts I'll bid 5.

I guess the only problem will occur if he thinks 4 clubs is Gerber.

Not a very expert or scientific bidding, but hey, with an unfamiliar partner I'm not interested in getting cute.

transfer + 4 but the problem is he might think this is a cue with 6+.

To avoid these its better to try these: 3-3-3NT

Yes, partner will pass with 2 and 6 can be cold, but our hand isn´t really great for slam purposes actually, and the chances of missunderstandings are huge, so I prefer to play slams on a really known fit, of coure reopening 4 with 4 to show slam interest and 5 card suit.

More or less a 7-loser hand. The 2NT opener should have 6 cover cards, so a slam try is in order. Transfer then bid 4C. Pard is not entitled to take this as a cue because...

1) There's no other way to bid this hand in a natural system except transf + 4C

2) And even if it were a cue, there's plenty of time to make that clear

3) And if you're REALLY afraid of a mix-up, bid transf + 6C.. yes, SIX.

wow...forcing to slam seems extremely rich when half of your values are stiff K and Qx. I would just transfer to hearts and then bid 4C. No chance my partner will not know that this bid shows clubs. over that if he bids 4H i will signoff (i've made my try). if he bids 4N i'll pass, if he cuebids 4D i'll cuebid 4S for him, and if he bids 4S ill bid 5C. Basically, once i show hearts and clubs and slam interest i'll leave the rest up to partner. I strongly disagree with forcing to slam. there are MANY hands partner can have that dont yeild slam

Assuming 2NT is 20-21 (or maybe 20-22 )

I would transfer to and bid 3NT

I suppose we COULD miss slam with a PERFECTLY fitting hand -- but with a Pickup partner 4 COULD be misunderstood , and possibly get us overboard :)

With a pick-up pard I wouldn't have a problem to transfer and bid 4C. Undiscussed sequences are usually taken to be natural, so I'd take a shot here.

The 4C bid might be a problem when you start arranging conventions with pard, like for instance "GERBER over 2NT". Now that's an agreement that might well backfire if you bid 4C here :) I wouldn't have that problem because I simply refuse to play gerber under any circumstances :)
