Fluffy
♠AKQxx♥K9x♦Axx♣Jx partner opens 1♦ (4+ cards) on a precision context (11-15 hand) You make an artifical answer of 1♥ wich can contain 2 type of hands: -natural 1♥ bid-Very strong hand starting a relay sequence, (A hand that would open 1♣ most likelly or soemthign a bit weaker with diamond support) And it goes... Our side vulnerable, opps not 1♦-(pass)-1♥-(4♥)pass-(5♥)-?? We have no agreements on pass and double on this sequence, partner will make educated guess about their meanings. ahydra
Use the X, Luke! Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to 5♠. 5♠ leads (most likely) to a negative score. ahydra
Cthulhu D
Do you play any other forcing pass sequences? But anyway, I'm not an expert but it seems like you're blessed with defensive tricks and offensive spade values so why not crack this?
akhare
Bring out the hammer. Did pard hold 4=0=6=3 or something like that and were you cold for 6D / 6S?
bigbenvic
What would partners X of 4♥ have shown? I'm trying to draw inferences from the lack of the double, it has to be clear to him that I have a 16+ hand as I am highly unlikely to have a natural 1♥ bid after lefty bids 4♥. Does his pass mean he doesn't have an extremely shapey hand? or is it showing a lack of a desire to whack 4♥? or a minimum with nothing to say? what are his likely shapes and hand types here? It's murky so I'm guessing as to your system. Can he have longer clubs? can he be 4144? would he bid with a void ♥ here? I'm tempted to pass which should be forcing showing the strong 16+ish hand type. I want to see what he bids and try and plot a course to the right slam. I suspect that 6♦ or 6♠ will be the right spot but I'm not sherlock so my suspicions could be way off.

Fluffy
if we assume he has 0-1 hearts he has any hand with 5+ diamonds or 4144/4045/3145
wyman
My meta agreements (and I obviously have no idea whether or not they apply, but if I'm guessing, so is P) would suggest that X is takeout oriented and pass is forcing (I think it's pretty clear I don't have hearts here). If I X, I'm worried that I'll hear 6C and now I have to decide whether to scramble. I'll pass and plan to pass partner's impending double. If he bids on his own, I hope he'll find dummy suitable. wyman
wyman: do you play takeout doubles and forcing pass? IE both pass and double are for take out? hmm, I guess it's early and I haven't had caffeine yet. :) lol @ me Ok, let me think this thru out loud. I think pass is 100% forcing, so X obviously has no interest in pushing forward. I am slam-suitable with heart length opposite partner's expected void, Axx of diamonds, and a source of tricks in spades, so I'll still pass, but for a different reason. Thanks for the sanity check. han
Why is pass forcing? Wouldn't we also bid 1H with something like Kxxx Qxxx Jxxx x? Perhaps the 5H bid makes it clear that they have 10+ hearts, but certainly after 4H we shouldn't be in a forcing pass situation. I wouldn't risk passing at the table. I agree that P is not forcing over 4H, but over 5H I think it is, and I think I'd have to double holding 4 hearts and a semi-bust here. Fluffy
I wanted to give a try to that 5NT pick a slam convention I haven´t ever used. Partner had ♠Jxx♥x♦QJxxx♣AKQx what should he bid over 5NT? if he bids 6♣ I´d correct to 6♦.
han
I'd bid 6C and pass 6D with partner's hand.
rhm
If you ask for judgment, I bid 6♠.May not make but I like my chances and 6♠ may also be greeted by 7♥. Partner's pass over 4♥ with shortage in hearts, knowing that I must have a strong hand, makes it unlikely that he has only minors. Also opponents, who preempt aggressively in hearts are usually short in spades. bluecalm
Partner's pass over 4♥ with shortage in hearts, knowing that I must have a strong hand Not really. We could well have 4 hearts and 4H bidder 7 of them. It's not that unlikely from partner's side, especially if he is looking at heart void.I think I bid 5♠. I think dbl will be passed or taken out to minor too often with hands like 3-0-5-5.
