That's what the tool tip said.
billw55
Like any bridge player, GIB is not perfect, and will make errors from time to time. While it is true that occasionally it makes a strange error that no human would make, I do not think this is such a case; we could find humans who would pull this double. Meanwhile, humans will sometimes makes errors that GIB will not, such as holding a guard in a suit declarer has shown out of. The main advantage of the GIB seems to be that her feelings are not hurt when we publicly berate her, and her performance on subsequent boards is entirely unaffected by her partner's unrestrained scorn. Bbradley62
I don't think OP is complaining about the quality of GIB's bidding or playing; he's questioning the bidding system design that explains that double as being for takeout. aguahombre
GIB was programmed by BBO forum members who play all doubles are for takeout.
ahydra
Hmm, you've shown penalty interest over the Michaels and waited for the opps to find a suit, so this should probably be penalty. Tricky for GiB to get right - maybe you need to double 3D as well? ahydra
MightyMoe
In this case it is a matter of interpretation. How can this possibly be programmed as take out? It makes no sense. If South wants to play in clubs, South can bid clubs. This is the very dodgy kind of thing that really detracts from playing with GIBs: crazy bid interpretations that have no basis in reality. AyunuS
But takeout double really could be useful here. Imagine if you have 3 clubs, and you want to see if your partner has 4 and your 3 were AKQ or something and you'd rather play clubs than some weak spade suit of J8742 or something like that if your partner has 4+ clubs, but you wouldn't dare risk bidding clubs with a 3-card suit. So it could be useful.
georgi
The real meaning of 3♥ is :Invite -- 3-4 ♥; 9-11 HCP; 12- total points As Michaels showing 5+5+ in majors, supposedly over invite with 3-4 cards this doubled seemed to be T/O for North. GIB could simulate whether to pass on 3♦ or "lie" a bit with 1 length in hearts. Supposedly partner is passed hand, probably simulation showed partner won't accept and will stop on 3♥. Both contracts seems to be 5+/2 5+/2 but. For most of the cases GIB would pass on 3♦, but just in few cases could bid 3♥. However, especially having Kxx in hearts, the double looked even more like T/O. So North moved to 4♣
