would your auction be the same as ours?

Interesting, everybody wants to be in grand here. But that depends on both red suits breaking, perhaps a 65% chance or so?

In 7NT, the odds on picking up the heart suit in isolation appear to be over 70% (72?) (Edit) 80% (82?) while the odds of picking up the diamond suit are somewhere around 95%. It is not so bad and we can do even better in a suit slam. More than that though, I just do not see South stopping short once North opens and we find out everything we need to know.

The diamonds don't have to break: you can handle J 10 4 3 onside as well; only J 10 4 3 offside kills the diamonds.

After 1 1 4 how does responder show slam interest in either suit?

I am also interested in the follow-ups to the CWNN ( Convention With No Name ) .

[ For those who haven't followed this, the 4-double jump showed 4 cards support and 6 cards , normally with the values concetrated in those 2 suits; ergo shortness in one of the blacks. ]

As N, if I wanted to follow up, I'd make a cue bid of 5. S would cue 5, N would sign off, and S would cue 5. Since this is a hand where either slam is virtually cold, or is a 5 or 7 proposition, N can then bid 7N or 7 (7 more likely), but may just subside with a 5N call, in which case S should probably boost to 7.

Edit - now that I think about it, N would always bid 5N after 5, trusting that if S had a running diamond suit that he would accept & go to grand.
