Worth the 5 level?

If 2NT were available on the first go, that would have been my call; then I wouldn't have to make any guesses now.

Since it wasn't, I pass anyway and take whatever happens. Partner should only have 3 hearts, unless he is one of those slow-rollers. If it is our hand for 5D, I already blew that.

Our hand is bad, our diamonds are bad, we have 3 spades, and we are vul. 2NT seems really weird to me.

2NT over 1C might might be risky, but hardly weird. I don't understand the issue with having 3 spades. They hadn't bid spades yet, and having shown ten red cards, we should have 3 of something.

I would like to double pass for specific leads. Unluckily, my double would ask for a diamond lead and pass would send no message. :(

Oh, you did not ask about pass or double? Not in my wildest dreams I would bid 5 .

Statto asked, in Post #5. For us the the double of 4H would have lead implications, suggesting it might be a good idea to attack in a different suit than hearts. In this case, if I had shown the reds, Partner will already know attacking dummy's singleton heart might not be the best way to go; so, a double of 4H would serve to confirm her suspicions that I don't have any clubs.

Another reason, we would have been better placed with the 2-suited call.
