whereagles
4S too. I don't believe in changing fits after one is found. Well, not at the 4-level at least. So 4H here would be a cue.
MrAce
5♦ Why do we think 4♥ is a cue ? 4♥ is to play imo but i would choose 5♦. I am not bidding 4♠ either, for what ? What do i have more than opening and then rebidding my 2nd suit freely at 3 level ? I will be more than happy if we make game.

ArtK78
Whereagles is clearly confused about who has bid what. The opponents are bidding spades, not our side. Partner has bid hearts, and we have bid the minors. Partner supported our diamonds over the opps 3♠ call. I don't know if Jillybean is similarly confused or is cuebidding spades. I bid 4♥. We should be in game in one of the red suits.
whereagles
I'm not confused. Not until now at least, lol. My 4S is a cue.
Phil
4♥ is the spot and was bid at the other table. Partner held a x AQTxxx Axxx Kx. Hearts were KJ8x off, and the contract should be beaten but wasn't. This hand didn't think 4♦ was forcing and passed.
han
I also don't think that 4D is forcing.
Fluffy
I think 4♦ is forcing, but I don´t see why 4♥ is better than 5♦

JLOGIC
I think 4♦ is forcing, but I don´t see why 4♥ is better than 5♦ Because you have 2 hearts. 4H is just a normal bid with a doubleton heart here, partner can have 6 hearts and is looking for the preference. Edit: Or do you mean the contract on this hand, rather than the bid?
bigbenvic
With me 4♦ is non forcing. I'm a minimum opening, have bid over 2♠ which shows extras which in this case is my concentrated values and 5-5. I've the right shape for going on but I reckon I've already bid my hand with 3♣ so sadly I would pass. With Norths hand I would like to bid 3♥ after 1♠ to show my good suit and a diamond fit. Prefer to be 5-5 but I have 10 red cards so. If they don't bid 4♠ before my next go I can sneak a 4♥ bid in to show the extra card. I'm happy to be in 5♦ with this hand, have 2 major losers so just need to bring trumps home and avoid a ruff somewhere!
