Lead vs slam

I think we can assume that declarer's combined assets probably include the AK s, and maybe the J. So a heart lead seems pointless.

 

The spade holding is extraordinarily dangerous to lead from and it isn't easy to construct layouts where it is necessary.

 

So we really revert to the club suit by elimination. And if we are leading clubs, there can be no reason to lead small. So the club A it is.

 

Any benefit in the trump suit is a happy plus....but I would be surprised if declarer is missing any trump or, if he is, that he would get it wrong.

This was a hand from Dutch Team championship couple days ago from vugraph.

 

The player on lead was Van Prooijen and he led . Then vugraph operator said that (after the hand is played) Verhees asked him why didnt he lead the obvious lead (due to lack of DBL of 2 and 5 i assume)

 

I wondered if it was that obvious. Apparently not upto replies in this topic.

I admit it never occured to me untill now u said it. I am sure you are correct, i was like " Wow, players of that level say this to their pd at the table ? "

 

I feel stupid now :(
