Rebid Problem

1NT is natural, 8-10, and you are playing 5cM. On which hands would you bid 3C? It is IMPs, vul against not. I have put in full pips, in case that is of significance.

I'll bid 3♣ on any of the hands I consider to be worth a game force opposite what partner has shown. Quite a few of these look like game forces opposite 8-10 but the quality of the pips could make a difference in some of these cases.

 

As explained on one of your other recent threads, if I have anything less than a game force, I'll start with 2♣; I shan't miss game very often as partner has an easy false preference available if he is non-minimum with a doubleton spade (partner can't be non-minimum with 1-3 in the blacks as that hand would start with redouble).

Indeed. Looking at the other poll I suspect some tactical voting as well. There were 36 votes, and some of those left out hands of 8-9, presumably just voting for 6, 7 or 10!

Is it playable to have 2C forcing here? Because that's what I have in agreement with one of my partners. That way I can save 3C for pure 5-5 hands.

It's easy to discourage such sabotage - make it a public poll.

I think all except the first one are ok. Jumping now is a little bit more flexible since its a competitive auction and partner had shown a bit more. Also, Its not impossible LHO still has a strong hand in a red suit, so ther eis a little bit of preemption going on too.

I dont see why you would like to play any other range here. I just played 2 doubled hands recently.

in both case opener had a real opening + responder had 6/7 pts = -300/-500. On both of them I tought it was poor to respond with 6-7 pts.

 

IMO responding light over a takeout X only work when you are white at MP or you have a good or long suit.
