Gerben42
Now for a lead problem: [hv=pc=n&w=s86h985dkt5ck8632&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=pp2h(5+4+%20majors%20weak)dp3d(constructive)p3nppp]133|200[/hv]
mgoetze
Just curious... why is 5 of hearts not an option? Won't partner play us for a doubleton if we lead the 9?
Gerben42
Okay added it but we normally lead 9 from 98x :)
Phil
Seems partner would like to know our heart length over holding the 8 spot. So I lead the 5. Is there an option to a heart?
Fluffy
I´d try a heart, spades would need to be too strong to defeat, and RHO made a take out double of hearts, so he is perhaps having spades but stops hearts with simply ♥Ax or ♥Kx
whereagles
Looks like a job for the ♥9. Not too many hopes, though... unless pard made a heavy pree, opps will prolly make it. Heart seems safer and our side has a good chance to have more hearts than spades.

I treat this as a partners suit lead, partner should be presuming that you will lead your longer/better major. Its pretty unlikely you are 2-2 in the majors and didnt have a minor to lead. so I lead top of nothing from three or
cherdano
Okay added it but we normally lead 9 from 98x :)I think count leads (3/5) in partner's suit are superior, and I thought they are standard.
Gerben42
[hv=pc=n&s=sa974ha76dqj6caqj&w=s86h985dkt5ck8632&n=st2hq43da98743c74&e=skqj53hkjt2d2ct95]399|300[/hv] Although the hand is terribly close, a ♠ lead isn't quite enough. East wins the King and can either return a ♣ and get squeezed in the majors later on, or he can play another ♠, giving declarer enough time to set up ♦. Only a ♥ sinks it, although partner's ♠ suit is longer and stronger.
