In addition, mikeh, lalldonn and Phil have all given plenty of high quality content, as always. For Newcomer, lalldonn (does a new ID count?), PhilKing and SteveMoe are obvious candidates. For Most Helpful, awm and gwnn are probably top of the list, although there are so many possibilities here it is difficult to pick out a small group (practically any of the 8 other names mentioned above would also fit here). I seem to recall Justin and Frances having a couple of decent results earlier in the year so let's at least put them up. This is a tricky category though, since I do not know who most of the posters are irl, let alone have the ability to follow results in different countries. For example, I think Fluffy made it to the BB but I am not sure. If he did then this is a pretty big achievement from a country like Spain and also deserves a nomination. One other point from your summary. Statto was nominated as Best Newcomer last year so I would not think he is eligible in 2012. Is there a defined cut-off point for this category? Is there a defined cut-off point for this category?In theory, a poster's first post should have occurred on or after January 1, 2012 to be eligible; if somebody was REALLY REALLY close though and made their first post in late December or something, I don't object to including them. This is about recognizing excellence, not rigid adherence to arbitrary rules. As I said, I haven't had time to vet the nominations yet, so there might be some that aren't strictly eligible. If you continue to argue about this, I will ban you. Off-topic: moderators seem to allow gratuitously offensive posts. Surely, then, It is fair to allow posts with harmless embellishments. Flashing emoticons are more annoying than a few suit symbols but I wouldn't ask that the former be banned.
