manudude03
Not sure exactly what you're asking. If you're asking what 5S shows, it says 5- 8421 points in S (i.e KJxxx or worse) hence it needs good trumps. As for what hand it's hoping for, well.... seems to be a perfect max.... Bbradley62
Having already shown a superaccept with the 4♠ call, how is South to know whether to bid slam or pass? Might this not have been a good time for RKC, so NS can play 5♠ off a keycard and the ♠Q?
georgi
South also shows doubleton in hearts, instead of 4♦ - doubleton in diamonds. So having in front just 2 hearts makes dummy minors values more promising to help. GIB is likely to bid 5♣ as well, but 5♠ as something like general invite if you have such good trumps as the example. Pity trump split in opps. Pity trump split in opps. The bad trump split only means that 6♠ is down 2 instead of down 1. It takes an unlikely 2-2 split to make the contract. It still appears to me that RKC is the best action slam try by North.
manudude03
Indeed, it does appear at times Gib is allergic to RKC. Maybe the meaning of 5S should be changed to a general slam try, or make it so the Gib can only bid 5S if it has an outside void.
