Furthermore, you really shouldn't get this wrong. The only alternative to the ♠ finesse is to play for the other honor to drop doubleton. If West has the doubleton, it will show up when South leads towards dummy (and why would West have pitched a spade from QJx?). If it's East, he made an incredibly strange play of 2 from honor doubleton, when playing a ♦ would have guaranteed the defense a spade trick.
