Someone suggested that plain text is superior since this can be consistently read on mobile devices, whereas the hand editor control doesn't work on a mobile device (at least it doesn't for me, using android). Antrax Posted January 19, 2012 Report Share Posted January 19, 2012 I moved to posting hands and auctions in text/suit icons because the hand editor tool is often too cumbersome for what I want. If I want to show a complex auction + a hand or two it's great, but if I just want to post a quick "what do you bid with this" then it's far easier to just type "KQJxxx" etc instead of clicking on cards separately. It's also annoying when you try to scroll down with the keyboard and the focus is on the posted hand, so that window scrolls up instead. Maybe the mobile version could have a warning sign if a thread contains handviewer so we can stay clear of them? For a quick "what do you lead" or "what do you open or respond" text is best. barmar Posted January 19, 2012 Report Share Posted January 19, 2012 As the original instigator, I'll say that I also don't feel it's necessary for the quick "what do you bid with XXX" types of posts. But if you're posting 2 or more hands and a full auction, text just sucks. Columns in the bidding don't line up, so it's hard to tell who bid what. I know we did without diagrams for years, but we suffered, and diagrams were added to solve this problem. I'm sorry that some devices have a hard time with them, but do we really have to cater to the lowest common denominator? What about other bridge web sites, like BridgeWinners?
