I need a way to get rid of people...

Recommended Posts

Had to cancel a tourney...two pairs being abusive, and no subs. Would have been nice to boot them and then get rid of a table (we weren't a survivor tourney, but I can change that next time). Unfortunately, there's no way to simply get rid of somebody when there's no replacements available.

I think I may have posted this before, and not gotten a relevant reply. We need this ability. I don't like having to cancel a tourney because of a couple malcontents.

As TD could you sub yourself in, leave seat, sub into next seat....

This is not a good idea. The reason being, just like you can't get rid of the player in the seat.. if you, as director sit down, you can't get back up until you find a sub for yourself. This could REALLY disrupt the tournment.

I recommend that you do the following with disruptive players.

1) Turn off chat to the entire tournment. So the disruption is limited to one table.

2) Instruct the players at the table to mark the problem child as enemy, and turn on "ignore chat from enemy"

3) Find a yellow to help you with the problem if you can. But if you can't the problem person is essentially muted... adjust his scores each round to whatever seems appropriate. and actively look for a replacement. Advertise in the lobby, screen the list of friends you have logged on. Generally someone will fairly quickly help out.

Booting a disruptive player doesn't stop them from continuing to be disruptive. They will go the lobby and send lobby chat for instance. But that carries great risk for them as yellows really frown on that.... and they will get suspended fairly quickly for such behavior.

We used to be able to replace a player with SITOUT; i think i removed that about the time we introduced the scarier (survivor, swiss) movements. If there is a big need i will put it back in, but i'd prefer not to do so.

What sort of disruption are you talking about? People that bid 7NXX for fun will immediately be barred from tourneys, or perhaps BBO, for at least a week. There might be other answers if the disruption is verbal ( for instance, a "gag player in my tourney" command or something )

The primary issue was a refusal to explain or alert bids, followed by verbal abusive behavior when asked. I've had worse before, but not as many pairs or without any subs.

There are other cases it would be nice- a big one is when there's a sitout pair, nobody subs, and the other pair says forget it...they'll just become subs. If I can eliminate the table, that solves everything. There's nothing like having one guy left at a table when we're out of subs.

What was the main reason for eliminating the ability to sub in Sitout? Was it being abused? Or was it a coding issue where it would have been tougher to keep it than to drop it?
