Alerts Obscure Some Bids

Some have complained that the alert text pop-ups in the Web BBO obscure other bids.

Howz about redesigning something similar to the original BBO that doesn't do this?

Each temporary alert graphic could appear clockwise "to the right of" the alerter. As in the example shown, South's bid is shown in the southeast quadrant; West's alerts would appear in the the currently unused southwest quadrant. The yellow connector line with black border helps tie the text to a particular call; and like the current BBO behavior, only one alert at a time need be shown.

 

My testing has revealed a 39 character limit to the self-alert text that one can type.

For illustration, both of the examples in the linked graphics above are right at this limit.

The explanation is displayed only when mousing over an alerted bid - it goes away as soon as the mouse cursor is no longer there.

 

My experience with FD alerts displayed in the corner of the table is that i might not notice them. Maybe others do, but it often happened to me to miss these explanations unless specifically being told by opps to look for them, or noticing the automated alert on table chat about opps using a CC.

This is presumably related to the problem as has been reported (in the Support Forum) for auctions in GIB World. The explanations stored for South's bids are limited for web-version users but not for download-version users.
