Close to minimum HCP, but the near perfect shape wins the day.

If it goes 2♥-P-P- partner will be carrying a reasonable number of hearts, the question I ask myself is if partner is too weak to bid 2N (15-17 ish for us), are we likely have game on ?

 

In this case it's fairly close, but enough flat 14s will give good play to want to bid it, particularly if partner has 4 spades or the ace of hearts rather than wasted minor honours.

Close Dbl for me. Make me vul, or move one of the ♠ to ♦, or remove any HCP, or add a heart and I pass. This is an absolute minimum for dbl imo.

Perhaps, the best arguement for acting immediately is to avoid making this decision now.

Not sure about deserved, it seems to need K♣ in the weak hand and trumps 2-2 as well (or diamonds 3-3 in some lines) on a trump lead.

IMO

- After 2♥, Pass = 10, Double = 9

- After 3♥, Double = 10

 

For a double, I would like a knave more [/hv]

But then again, North hardly had a raise to 5♣ - where are his extras? I do prefer a certain +130/150 on offense over an uncertain +50 on defense (wouldn't the ♣A lead get some votes in a poll?). Actually, I do prefer an uncertain +400 on offense over an uncertain +50 on defense!
