mikeh Posted December 15, 2011 Report Share Posted December 15, 2011 I chose a club, but with no strong convictions other than the obvious 'not a diamond'. I don't like a heart because we have to lead low, and that may cause partner to play us for a card we don't hold, and thus misdefend. The club 9 will be far easier for him to read. As for cutting down ruffs in dummy, I don't see that leading one round from our side will usually make any difference at all. It's not as if we're going to be getting in early to lead a second round very often. I'd rather use my limited entries to lead through dummy. The player with these cards passed and led a diamond. The defence then went slightly awry and conceded 470.A club lead also may make things a bit awkward.A spade lead is probably a simple one off.A heart lead is best, and ought to be two off. Maybe clubs is better since partner is more likely 4-5 than 5-4. If I'd lead a club it would be a low club, leading the 9 is going to mislead partner more often.
