Deanrover
BBO are lucky to have some users who are very keen to fill in as substitutes for tourneys. However, it would be a time consuming process for them to sign up as a sub for every tourney going. Hence, I suspect, some users sign up as substitutes quasi-randomly. This is a problem, as often tournament x has extremely few disconnects, whilst tournament y needs 10 subs. IMHO, BBO should be striving to maximise the pool of substitutes, and also to become as user friendly as possible. Thus, after clicking tournaments, there should be a "sign up as substitute" button. Then the user could have a list of all running tournaments, with a check box next to each one. This would encourage people to sign up as substitutes. jikl
Very good idea. I would add one thing to it though. That when looking at the checkboxes it displays the Tourney window for that Tourney so you can see if you want to sub in that one. An example of this would be an Acol or wj2000 Tourney and you not knowing the system. Sean

EarlPurple
Allowing players to sign up as a substitute before a tourney starts (when registration is full) would also be useful.
jillybean
My wish list...It would be helpful to see #boards remaining, I may only have time to sub for x boards. The only way to tell this now is to go to a tournament table and use movie.
EarlPurple
oh, and once we've registered as a sub, if we are subsequently invited to play, have the invitation come up in the forefront, in case I happen to be here and BBO is in the background. And if a player does nothing for a certain period of time (when it is their turn to do something) then mark them as "idle" and let partner sub them out. Will solve a lot of problems. Presuming you have sound on your PC this issue is addressed in the latest versions of BBO. You can choose to hear an extremely pleasant sound when receiving tournament invitations. I also agree with THIS one Jilly -- I sometimes have spare time when I could sub -- but would like to know approx the time left when I would be needed :D
EarlPurple
I have 3.9.0 but I usually have music playing on my PC. Do you hear the sound even if BBO is in the background at the time? And will you hear it if there is music playing?
Stars
Hi All, I don't know if this is already : When we're registered as a sub, if after, we go to one table or teammatch, does it remove us from Sub list ? Thanks

And will you hear it if there is music playing? It depends on the soundcard, the driver, and the operating system.Using WinXP, I can hear both music and BBO sounds. Win98 doesnot deliver BBO sounds while running WinAmp.
0 carbon
1. I agree. In Pending and Running tourney lists, there should be a checkbox with each tourney so people can sign up (or opt out) as subs easily, and also see their status. If a type of tourney is repeated, eg, hourly ACBL speedball, then propagate the sub registration to later tourneys too, so log as the user is logged on. 2. To further populate the sub pool, why not include all unsuccessful registrants as subs when the tourney starts? They DID want to play! tOM
