MrAce Posted November 19, 2011 Report Share Posted November 19, 2011 Pass Direct 5♣ is more of a shape oriented imo and not willing to play anyhing else as trump suit. It should suggest a self sufficient suit at most 1 loser vs a stiff or void rather than just a good suit and a lot of hcp. Perhaps he has 6♣+4♦ and was willing to play more than game had he seen ♦ bid or a stronger bid from us. he is in tuff seat now and bidding whatever he thinks is our most likely contract. I have no reason to override 5♣ with xx in enemy suit, xx in his trump and only ♦K. And he didnt bid 3NT either.
