hrothgar
Hi All I'd like to suggest a feature for the next major version which I think would make it much easier to create team games. The existing team game interface is great if/when you have a group of eight players all of whom are ready and able to play in a team match. However, the interface is rather awkward for players who want to create a pickup match... I'd like to suggest a secondary tool for creating team matches based on a set of tiered lobbies. The root node contains a list of individual players who have indicated that they are interested in participating in team matches. Players resident in the "individual" lobby have the option of inviting other players to form a partnership... Players who successfully form partnerships, migrate to the "Pairs" lobby. The pairs lobby contains a list of pairs who are interested in forming teams. Pairs who successfully form teams migrate to the teams lobby. The teams looby contains a listing of teams interested in challenge each other. I think that this would be much simplier than the existing system based on random messages in the main lobby... hotShot
Hi Richard! I think the best way would be to create a team match with dummy players sitout1-sitout8. After that the match is visible to all, so players can list as subs and the TD can use the existing subbing tool to seat the players. Tourney chat can be used to organise seating without flooding the lobby. Only problem is not to show the cards before all are seated. I think that would be very easy to use and not to complicated inplement, since most of this already exists. Have a nice dayRobert

The model that you propose requires the TD to serve as a central coordinator and determine seating/partnerships/etc. My model is a botton up approach which allows individuals to form their own partnership/teams/tournaments. As any regular memebr of this forum understands, I have a strong bias towards decentralized systems. As you note, your structure may be easier to implement. Ultimately, this might be a more important consideration.
hotShot
I see your point, but: is there a team/pairs captian?Or does any player who sits down force his team/pair to a match/table. Are team matches automaticly formed if 2 teams are in the team lobby? So in the end a td has to form a team match, and invites the teams/players. Of cause one could create some sort of partnership-desk and a "teamship-desk" , so the td has nothing to do besides creating the match, but will you get the opps you desired? perhaps some other players might be faster. If one day team tourenys with more than 2 teams are possible we will need such tools. Lets see the upcomming vugraph features, they deal with team tourneys with more than 2 teams, show match results and result tables. This might be a base for such tourneys at bbo. If one day team tourenys with more than 2 teams are possible we will need such tools. I envision the following model: To start with, you have an "individual" lobby, with a pool of players interested in competing in a team match. Any player in the lobby can invite any other player to form a team. Once a player accepts an invitation, the two players are now a partnership, and automatically move to the partnership lobby. In the partnership lobby, any partnership can issue an invitation to any other partnership to form a team. Once a team is formed, the team is automatically moved to the team lobby. The team lobby is a mechanism by which individual teams can find matches. Once again, I envision an invitation/acceptance type model... lipi
Hi! What about making the team-match work like an 8-seated table?I mean the TD can open it like a new table, reserve some seats for whoever he wants to, and for the rest people could sit down on their own. The "start new table" interface is perfect, you can set to ask for permission, kibs, etc... The only difference would be that once the game has started, noone can stand up.
