mich-b
[hv=pc=n&n=s42hq8632dcj98653&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=p1np]133|200|1NT = 15-17[/hv] Playing teams , would you transfer to ♥s or to ♣s (by bidding 2♠) ? I transferred to Hearts , hoping to bid game if partner breaks the transfer (showing 4 card support and maximum). And , ignoring for the moment game chances , which partscore is more likely to make , 2H or 3C? han
If I can play in 2H or 3C I'm very happy. Transferring to clubs is more preemptive, I'll try that.
andy_h
I agree with the plan of transferring to hearts planning to pass unless partner breaks it by making a 4 card superaccept in which I will raise it to game. This I think has more of an upshot than being able to play in a 3♣ partscore. If it was 2♥ vs 3♣ I have no idea which one is the "more superior" part score but I guess it will be in my six card club suit since opposite a doubleton support I probably prefer to be in clubs to keep control if our hand gets tapped on diamonds. Free
Transfer ♥ because I might have game if partner can super accept.
fromageGB
I don't see this as a possible game hand at all. So much ruffing needed that you will never establish clubs and have an entry for them. And a cross-ruff to game does not seem likely opposite a balanced hand. Definitely (more preemptive) 2♠ transfer to clubs and hope we get there.
whereagles
I would transfer to HEARTS. If pard happens to superaccept, I'll raise it to 4H. Otherwise pass 2H and eventually bid clubs if someone butts-in.
Bbradley62
breaks the transferIs this a commonly-used phrase? I'm amused by reading this right after another thread where someone seems to define 1N-2D-3H as "accepting" the transfer, because 1N-2D-2H is simply fulfilling a requirement and therefore (according to that someone) "super-accept" is an unnecessary embellishment.
