GIB's first discard?

How does GIB signal on its first discard? The CC says standard. I just had GIB discard the 2 from Axxx2. I took this as lack of interest and tried to reach the other hand in a different suit to get a ruff. So making a doubled overtrick instead of down one. :(

 

I see GIB signals count not attitude on partner's leads. Could this signal also be count? If so what is needed as an improvement is better signaling.

Here's a comment I found in the code:

In the non-ruffing case, if you've got trumps and you're pitching a

card that the opponents can beat, you try to pitch from short suits.

If you're pitching a card they can't beat, or you have no trumps, you

try to pitch from long suits.

 

The GIB software allow you to request attitude and/or count signals on the convention card. I think we're using the default GIB CC for the BBO robots, which only signals count.
