the hog
Had these two tonight. Pity I was not playing high stakes rubber. What decisions would you make? Hand 1AKQQAKJ9AKJTx 1C 1D2D 3D? 1C = Polish, 1D = negative, 2D = gf any, 3D = 0-5 transfer to H - excludes 4-5 points and a 6 card suit. Hand 2ATxKQxAKQxAKx 1C (P) 1D (1S)2S (P) 4H 1C = Polish, 1D = neg, 2S = gf but 1 S stop only tolerance for other 3 suits, 4H = no S stopper long H
Free
I don't know Polish club, but tnx to the good explanations I have a feeling where I want to play. Did you seriously get these two bunkers in 1 night?? 1) I think I'd bid 3NT, unless it has another meaning than natural. 2) Probably some Ace-asking thingy, or 5♥ invitational for slam. the hog
"Did you seriously get these two bunkers in 1 night?? " Yep! "2) Probably some Ace-asking thingy, or 5♥ invitational for slam." He won't have an Ace Frederick.
inquiry
1) 3NT I guess.. If partner has five is he likely to bid again? 2) Pass.. where I can see 11 tricks, I always like to think that I have a very good chance I can make a 12th if I am not off two quick tricks. Here however a spade lead will knock out my spade stopper before I go after trumps,,,, When they take the heart ace, they will be able to grab a spade trick unless partner has the perfect hand (singleton Spade (is that possible here)), or no more that 2S and 2D or 1D and 3S so I can get a pitch, or the highly unlikley 2S and 1C. helium
Had these two tonight. Pity I was not playing high stakes rubber. i cant even see a small slam on this hands, on hand 1 im not even sure game makes, but this sentence suggest its 2 slams:)))
whereagles
Hum.. yeah, I think I'd bid 3NT and pass as well.
Flame
1. 3nt2. if i have a way to ask about singlton spade in partner's hand , like maybe 5h, or just cue bidding 5c which partner will understand as luck of spade control for slam, then i will bid it, else i pass. the hog
On the first hand 3N was best. Pd had the proverbial pile of....JxTxxxxTxxxxx On the second - I am nor so sure it is right to give up on slamGiven that 2S was a gf, how many hearts is pd likely to have for his 4H bid? I passed 4H and pd was pretty critical. He heldxxJ9xxxxxJxxx His comment was that with fewer H he would have bid 3 and then 4. I am not so sure about this reasoning. Comments anybody?Interesting to pick up these 2 monsters within 3 boards.
Free
Since you're in a GF auction, it's quite logical that partner will use 3♥ stronger than 4♥. However, your partner promisses at least 6 ♥'s (no?), which makes this hand really attractive to slam. If he has a 7th ♥ or just ♥A you have slam without any problems... If you use an Ace-asking bid, I think you'll end up in 5♥, if you use invitational, it depends on weither you consider this garbage as good or not... whereagles
Hum... if the 4H bid I supposed to show solid but weakish hearts (something like QJTxxxx), then opener, looking at KQx of hearts, has reasons to suspect responder either misbid or has like 8 or 9 hearts to the jack. Pard may have a point in being cross, but he also doesn't seem to have his bid either ;)
