whereagles
Move where to? 3NT seems fine. Maybe 6C makes, but that's a slam I could do without unless I needed points.
BunnyGo
Looking at both hands, I want to roll this back to 3♥X. If the heart A is in the south, I'm not too happy in 3NT, but any time 3NT makes, I'm setting 3♥ at least 2 tricks, and I'm (almost) always setting 3♥ at least 1. That said, I don't think that East should pass.
aguahombre
Will take a wild guess that the opening bidder has the two missing bullets, rather than the other ten-count and be content with 3NT. However, if this is another hand from the Juniors crapshoot, who knows?
ArtK78
The posters seem to be missing the point. West should not sit for 3NT. It is possible that 3NT is the last making spot. However, West should bid 4♣ (forcing). West should suspect that East's heart stopper is inadequate for notrump purposes. More important, West should be looking for slam. Opposite as little as the ♠A and strong clubs a club slam is likely to be cold. West should not suppress his monster support for partner's suit. The only excuse for passing 3NT is that it is matchpoints, and the OP did not specify that it was matchpoints. At IMPs, you should not pass 3NT. On this hand, bidding again gets you to the superior 5♣ contract. But that should not be too suprising.
mcphee
This is not a 2C o/c at imps. The suit is complete trash and the hand far more defensive in nature. I would not be happy if my partners made this sort of bid. Had the bidding gone the way I see I would be very worried I was missing a C slam even if partner bid 3N. After all partner will be bidding 3N with hands that have Kxx in H the and KQ 6th of his suit along with the AS and we fail in 3N when 6C is a no brainer for a beginner. And isn't this the sort of hand you would think might bid 2C more often than a trashy 5 bagger? I think we need to make a move over 3N and I would bid 4H,if they show the AS I am playing slam. whereagles
Opposite as little as the ♠A and strong clubs a club slam is likely to be cold. So pard, who bid 3NT, will have AxKxxxxAKxxxx and opener psyched 1H on some random 8-count? Is this what you're playing for? Ok, I give in that opposite xxHxxxxAKxxxx slam is decent, bar an embarassing spade lead (ok, unlikely). I suppose you could bid 4C over 3NT then. But don't look surprised if pard produces instead xxHHxxxKQxxxx
