If 3C was inv and nf then partner seems to be trying to show us something like 2452 and max, or perhaps 3451 with rubbish in spades. In this case I would plump for 3NT. Perhaps it is also a silly question but what would an initial double have meant, as this might have a bearing on what hands partner takes us for now?
