North's 4 is 1st/2nd round control in and denies a -control. North could have bid 4 RKC if he wanted to.

- Do you agree with your bidding so far?:

- - Not sure if 4NT is ok with this hand.

- - If partner would have given 2 Aces then we could well go down in 6 after a -lead?

- What do you call now?

I would want to let partner know we have all keycards with 5NT, but if he might bid 6 in response the I'd rather not.

There is no way to bid grand with confidence here because we can't tell partner we have AKQ to let him pitch a club if he hes 2 hearts, so lets just bid 6

You don't have to bid 5NT as a K-ask.

You can bid 5S ( 2nd step; whereas 5H = 1st step, dQ-ask )

If he has the sK, his reply would be 5NT ( NT shows feature in the asked-for suit )

You then have room for a 2nd K-ask below 6-of-trump ... namely 6C.

But does partner really have all of that? sAK, dAK, cK

If partner shows the cK instead ( thus denying the sK ), the Grand might be worth a shot.

Fluffy was not interested in K. OP already said pd denied control, thus he cant have K. He just wants pd to know that we aint missing any keycards incase he can bid grand due to extra length in trump suit.

If i am not wrong Fluffy expecting pd to have 6+2+2 or similar hand to make grand such as;

Axx xx AKxxxx xx

Duh.... I read the "denied Cl-Ctrl" and immediately forgot about it.

Anyway, the 5S! K-ask would allow for the 2nd K-ask of 6C = "do you have anything else" .

But, instead, if South recognizes that if partner has 6 cards Diam, then the grand slam has a good chance.

South could make a clever 5H! = trump Q-ask instead. North would give a positive reply with his "extra length" since the 1D open is obviously at least 4 cards . TWO spade ruffs would bring the total to 13.... or perhaps North has the hJ.

When I bid 4NT I thought that 6 would possibly go down when partner was bidding 2 KC's. So I was happy that he did not have that and passed 5 without thinking. :(

Then afterwards I was trying to be more clever and thought that Q ask with 5 was maybe the best bid.

Partner had:

Axxx=J=AKxxxx=xx
