Quartic
[hv=pc=n&w=sq8742haqj63dajct&e=skj9h94dk7cakqj84&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=p1cp1sp2np3hp3sp4np5hp5sppp]266|200[/hv] We play Acol, so 1♣ showed at least 4. 2NT was 19 points balanced, game forcing. 4NT was RKCB for ♠.
TylerE
Why not 3♣ over 1♠? The source of tricks is the key thing...
xxhong
clearly west. The basic assumption for RKC is that if you miss only one KC, you need to play a slam. If west doesn't think he can bid the slam missing only one KC, he shouldn't bid 4NT.
Bbradley62
Damn! Those were my two comments. But bottom line is that West is to blame.
Quartic
I didn't bid 3♣ because I wanted to game force. 3♣ is not forcing, though highly encouraging.
Hanoi5
West. Even though East didn't quite describe his hand, West asked for KC (which I supposed was only what he cared for) and when he found the pair was only missing one KC he just stopped at the 5 level! ArtK78
If the 2NT rebid promised 19 HCP, then West can count 33 HCP between the two hands. Hard not to blame West for not getting to slam.
kenrexford
West, for using the "Idiot Leaping 4NT" convention.
fromageGB
West, for using the "Idiot Leaping 4NT" convention.Nothing wrong with "Leaping 4NT" at times. Better than taking things slowly and bidding 3NT! The problem is simply West's failure to realise that there were 33 hcp. Slam seems automatic and there is no reason to stop. If opener had ♥ king then 12 is practically a laydown, and if not it is a 50/50.
wank
not what you asked, but your methods are rather inefficient if 2nt promises exactly 19 points.
Quartic
Partner suggested she was worried about trump quality when she passed 5♠. I think in that case a 4♦ cue bid would have been better than 4NT. Edit: We play our 1NT rebid as 15-18, which helps keep bidding lower for invitational hands, so we don't need 2NT to have a wider range.

Hence the difference between conventions. "Leaping 4NT" is a good convention. "Idiot Leaping 4NT" is not.
neilkaz
Hmmm...you showed 19 HCP and then supported pard's suit and she has 14 hcp, launched RKC then failed to bid slam when lacking 1 key card. Who do you think is to blame? Clearly 100% her..ie West. With doubts about the trump suit she should just bid 6NT with 33 hcp. Since she has doubts about she should simply bid 4♦ prior to 4NT. You then will love your hand even more since the K♦ is upgraded and you have decent ♠ and clearly cooperate with her slam move. Blame 100% West

ggwhiz
If west doesn't think he can bid the slam missing only one KC, he shouldn't bid 4NT. I see the others 100% and raise all in. West as declarer even protects against a heart lead.
