What to bid?

Recommended Posts

Pairs white V red against experienced pair.

(1NT1) X2 (XX3) ?

1. 12-14.

2. 15+ and partner has a habit of going on light hands however we haven't bid this sequence before so she is probably being honest. FWIW We have no agreement about what shape partner should hold.

3. Transfer to Clubs.

What would you bid here? I must admit I and a few others failed miserably.

Lets say you pass to hear partners next bid and the bidding goes:

(2) 2 (P) ?

Now what?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Only 1/11 tables got to 4

Was the redouble showing clubs or just asking opener to bid 2 in order to pass or do something else? If the former you could bid 2 as a cue-bid(?) and if not you can do it over 2. You could also bid 3 directly or over 2.

The redouble is "Exit transfer" and asking partner to play in clubs.

Particularly against a weak notrump I'm fond of playing systems on as if WE opened a strong notrump. Fits in with your 15+.

Makes sense and close to some of our other agreements. I'll discuss this with partner.
