Different auctions, different plays

I'm intrigued by this one... there were four different auctions at our ten tables, with all auctions leading to a contract of 4SS. For each auction, there was a different Trick 1. Maybe someone who is a better analyst than I am can explain why the various defensive actions are best given the different auctions?

Six of the tables had the simplest auction:

[hv=lin=pn|bbradley62,~~M8039,~~M8037,~~M8038|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S2369JQAH36D58AC4%2CS4TH589JD34TKC7JA%2CS58H47TAD67JC5TQK%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%201%7Csv%7Co%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4S%7Can%7CPreempt%20--%207%2B%20S%3B%203-20%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CSQ%7C]360|270[/hv]When all Wests led T, all Easts were clever enough to duck and make things less clear for declarer.

The other four Souths opened 1, but had various auctions after North responded 1N. One South rebid 2:

[hv=lin=pn|Human2,~~M8057,~~M8055,~~M8056|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S2369JQAH36D58AC4%2CS4TH589JD34TKC7JA%2CS58H47TAD67JC5TQK%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%201%7Csv%7Co%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20S%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%201%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1N%7Can%7CForcing%20one%20notrump%20--%206-11%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C2S%7Can%7C6%2B%20S%3B%2011%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-16%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C3S%7Can%7C2%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2010-12%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4S%7Can%7C6%2B%20S%3B%2015-16%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CSA%7C]400|300[/hv]East was protecting against West having underled A or Q?

Two Souths rebid 3:

[hv=lin=pn|Human3,~~M8048,~~M8046,~~M8047|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S2369JQAH36D58AC4%2CS4TH589JD34TKC7JA%2CS58H47TAD67JC5TQK%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%201%7Csv%7Co%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20S%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1N%7Can%7CForcing%20one%20notrump%20--%206-11%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C3S%7Can%7C6%2B%20S%3B%2017-20%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4S%7Can%7C2%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%208-12%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CDA%7C]400|300[/hv]Those two Wests led small . I would have thought this auction made it more likely that South had honors, so underleading the K would be more dangerous, but my opening leads suck, so maybe there's a good reason for this lead.

The last South rebid 4 and got a lead. Very unlucky...

Love the crap descriptions- 4S cannot possibly have 3 TP with 7 spades given the way GIB calculates TP (I'd say at least 6 TP {3 for length of spades and 3 for shortness} ) and no HCP description. If GIB really has no HCP count for 4S how can it simulate the play- there is a lot of choices with only 7 spades in South as the information - the leads should have been much more varying. That description like many others is just plain lazy.
