A, I just hope it doesn't give up a trump trick. I have to admit that at the table I would probably lead the K without even thinking about it but after thinking I will try to 1) get off a future endplay and 2) possibly stop a ruff. Of course the dummy might show with AQJx(x) in which case I may regret my choice.

I'd lead K. A can work but also can cost us a trick. Perhaps pd has a ruff that we can manage to find ? All i know is, i do not remember too many hands that i was unhappy with defense leading trump ace when i was declaring.

full hand

seems like lead K, pd plays J, u shift to , pd plays +50

lead A and -420. Expensive price to pay just to see dummy when we already have a textbook lead.

Only if you like to take losing practice finesses.

Sorry, what i wrote was nonsense.

Unblocks T or goes to dummy with ruff. I dont think we can set this on any lead or defense. Suppose pd overtakes and plays he makes, if pd plays and he misguesses still makes.

Maybe I'm still sleepy, but I don't see how any lead defeats this contract. If you lead a , declarer lets it run to his Q. East can take, but this will make Q high, and on A declarer can discard his loser. He only needs to ruff 2s, he'll lose a , a and a . This is similar to K lead followed by a switch. If EW play on , then the loser will go on the high s. And if we don't touch a red suit, declarer will play on and easily make his contract.

assuming u dont play the Q under the K, which admittedly double dummy makes this work, but I can't imagine anyone doing this, how do u untangle the hearts when a diamond is sent back at trick two?

I think you should work on your imagination then. I'd be rather embarrassed if I failed to unblock Q.

Sometimes I really want to award you the title of worst poster ever. To summarize, you posted a problem

- with an obvious single-dummy lead, where

- the lead on the actual hand wouldn't matter (assuming a competent declarer), and

- you weren't even able to read the thread and notice the post where it was pointed out that the lead didn't matter.

Its really delightful that the forum troll comes on to think I didn't read the thread. Thanks for your dazzling contribution. I hope someday to be 14 again where I bring sarcasm to my every post on a messageboard.

unblocking the HQ is not an unrealistic play when your LHO has made a takeout X of 2S and not led a top club. RHO is now marked with the HK, and something like the CK. Not unblocking is playing him for the HJ and the DK as well. This must be far less likely after LHO has made a double than LHO having the HJ and DK. A diamond shift will not be hard for RHO to find looking at that dummy if we don't unblock, it's his only hope (assuming imps).
